How It Works

Ten questions. One Daily Drop.

Each Daily Drop contains ten questions, with 30 seconds for each. The prompt tells you which of three question types you are playing.

Estimate the Number

Enter one numerical guess in the unit shown. Your first valid guess is final, even if it earns nothing. Where a question can be answered in more than one unit, such as kilometres or miles, tap the unit beside the question to switch.

The closer you are to the correct number, the deeper you go: within 2% is worth 1,000 metres; 5% is 850; 12% is 600; 25% is 300; 40% is 150; and 60% is 100. Further away earns nothing.

Money questions show the currency, for example (£). Type the amount in pounds and pence: 3.07, £3.07 and 307p are all read as £3.07. The same percentage bands apply.

"What year" questions are judged on years off instead: the exact year is worth 1,000 metres; within 1 year 850; 3 years 600; 7 years 300; 15 years 150; and 30 years 100. The bands widen for older history.

True or False

Choose True or False once. A correct call is worth 500 metres; a wrong call earns nothing.

Rare Answers

Type one answer that fits the prompt. Each accepted answer sends your submarine a preset distance deeper: 50, 120, 250, 500, 750 or 1,000 metres. The obvious answers are the shallow ones; the answers hardly anyone thinks of take you a full kilometre.

You can retry a rejected guess while time remains. Your first accepted answer is final. If your spelling is close to an accepted answer, the game asks “did you mean…?” and you choose. If the clock runs out while it is asking, the suggestion is taken.

Depth and results

Your result is the depth you reach. Every dive starts at 500 metres and each accepted answer takes you deeper, so nine 1,000-metre answers and the True or False called right put you on the seabed at 10,000 metres. A Rare Answer or an Estimate is worth up to 1,000 metres and a True or False up to 500.

After the dive, open each question in Dive Recap to see the answers. Where a fact has been written, it appears directly beneath the 1,000-metre answers. Estimates show the correct number and your guess; True or False shows the correct call.

Optional lifelines

Each Daily Drop includes four optional lifelines. (Challenge races have their own, described below.)

Clue reveals a helpful hint. Once per dive.

+10 sec adds ten seconds to the current question. Once per dive.

Swap replaces the current question with another available question, which may be a different type. Once per dive.

Appeal is for a Rare Answer you believe is right but the game turned down. It asks for a ruling on that answer; if the ruling goes your way, the answer is accepted and you descend. Three per dive.

Skip when needed

Skipping a question earns nothing and moves to the next question.

You may skip as often as necessary.

Past dives: Prior Questions

A new Daily Drop unlocks at midnight in the Europe/London timezone. Future dives stay locked until their date; past dives are available from Prior Questions on the home screen, the archive of every earlier Daily Drop.

Archive dives can be replayed without affecting the daily leaderboard. Your first archive completion can count in comparison statistics.

Catching up on dives you missed: your most recent missed dives are free (days you played on the day never count). Share your invite link: every friend who opens it unlocks more missed dives for you, straight away. A one-off unlock for the full archive is coming soon. Today’s Daily Drop is always free, and days you have already played stay open.

Streaks

Your streak counts the days in a row on which you finished that day’s Daily Drop. Only a dive played on its own day counts: catching up in the archive afterwards neither extends a streak nor repairs a broken one. Three-day and seven-day streaks each earn an achievement.

Locations

Each Daily Drop is set somewhere in the world, with its own pixel-art scene above and below the water. The home screen names the day’s location under the dive number, and new places are added from time to time. The location changes the view, not the rules.

Leagues

Create a private league from the menu and share its code with friends. Each league has its own daily, weekly and monthly table, and you choose the name the league sees.

Challenge mode

Race another member of one of your leagues. Choose Challenge in the menu, pick a league and a rival, and the race starts with a 3-2-1 countdown the moment they accept.

You both get the same ten questions from past dives, 30 seconds each. A race is not measured in depth: it keeps its own race tally, and the higher tally wins.

A tie goes to the faster finish. The result screen shows both tallies and every answer.

Treasure and the Diver’s Hub

Dives earn Treasure, the deeper the better. Spend it in the Diver’s Hub on hats and eyewear for your submarine, and unlock new submarines through achievements. Link a device from the menu to keep the same diver on your phone and computer.
